alperSusan Lordi Marker

Central 1972

Susan Lordi Marker (Central High 1972) is known for her innovative art that is exhibited and published internationally. Seven years ago, she developed a line of figurative sculpture called Willow Tree®— unique, hand-painted pieces which are distributed worldwide.

Susan created specific cause-related figures for the Susan G. Komen Foundation and Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City, where she and her husband Dennis have established a scholarship endowment for oncology nurses. Willow Tree® has become a successful gift line in the U.S. and internationally. Its proceeds have allowed the Markers to support many organizations aligned with Susan’s interests in the arts.

Her work has won awards in the U.S. and abroad. In 2000, she was selected as one of ten US artists featured in the book Art Textiles of the World: USA. A monograph of her work was recently published in the Portfolio Collection by Telos Art Publishing.

Marker currently resides in Kansas City, MO.
