Many professions have awards to honor individuals who aspire to be the best in their fields.  Most notable, perhaps, are the entertainment industry’s Oscar, Emmy, and Tony Awards.   Closer to home, the Parkway Alumni Association has the Albert Award, named in honor of Dr. Al Burr, a retired teacher, coach, and long-distinguished principal in the Parkway School District. Learn more about Dr. Burr »

Throughout his 50 year career in education, Al Burr has motivated countless educators by both his professional practice and his public speaking.  In 2005, a group from the first Parkway Hall of Fame class decided to honor Al Burr, and the legacy he left in the Parkway School District, by creating the Al Burr Educators Make-A-Difference Fund.

The Al Burr Educators Make-A-Difference Fund supports the following programs that honor Parkway teachers:

The Albert Awards

The Al Burr Educators Make-A-Difference Fund also supports the Albert Awards. The Albert Awards honor teachers who are inspiring others at the very earliest stages of their careers. It is given to three first through fifth-year teachers each year - one each at the elementary, middle and high school levels. Each recipient will receive a $1,000 cash prize and a plaque.

Congratulations to the 2011 Albert Award recipients! »
